MUKAH: Thirty youths took part in the Smart Youth Camp 2018 held at Mukah Youth Activity Centre (MYAC) over the weekend.
They comprised students from Sarawak Skills Development Centre Mukah (PPKS Mukah), Giat MARA Mukah and students from secondary schools.
The two-day event from July 28 to 29 was jointly organised by Mukah District National Anti Drug Agency (AADK Mukah), Mukah Parliament Youth Organisation (MPYO) and AADK Mukah Squad.
Royston Valentine, the AADK Mukah Squad Chairman who was also the camp’s joint coordinator, said it was a packed event.
On the first day, the activities began at 7am and run until 3am the next morning. Among the activities were ice-breaking, group division, group training/group basic works, `I am Sarawakian’ slot (in conjunction with Sarawak Independence Day), traditional archery demonstration, camp craft and living skills, tabling of group works, Q & A session, talent night, fighting drugs, games and birthday do for participants born in June and July.
The second day kicked off with morning exercise and foot drill, followed by the raising of flags, 3.5km hurdling adventure, community service (rubbish collecting along the road heading to Kaul Festival Site (Taman Kala Dana), gotong-royong for clearing of the camping site and MYAC, and camp evaluation session by AADK Mukah,” he said.
The camp was officially closed by Mukah District AADK Officer, Fellynora Bt Joseph Na, who represented State AADK Director.
Also present at the function were Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) Mukah Branch Manager, Abdul Hafidz Ali, Setia Raja Mukah Football Development Academy, Jamal Haji Wasli, Mukah Division Football Association Exco Member, Rosli Akup and AADK Mukah Squad committee members.
