KUCHING: About 30 yoga enthusiasts got the chance to join Singaporean celebrity Denise Keller for a ‘Special Yoga Class with Denise Keller’ at AOEN Mall here, yesterday. Denise, a renowned and certified yoga instructor is also a model and former video jockey (VJ) for MTV Asia. The yoga class held for 45 minutes was co-organised by Lea Sports Centre (LSC), Level Up Fitness (LUP) and Under Armour Malaysia.
The special class was also a special pre-tease event for the upcoming inaugural ‘Rainforest Fringe Festival 2018-Yoga ln The Wild’ event which will be held at Cove 55, Santubong for three days from today (July 9 ) until 11 July.
Denise who has been practicing yoga since she was 14 years old, and a yoga instructor for four years now said that yoga is still foreign to many people and hopes that more people would try to explore yoga as it gives plenty of benefits for the health and mind.
“Outdoor yoga especially, gives you a better environment where you get in touch with mother nature and able to experience inner peace,” she said. She added that participating in yoga activities is also a platform to meet new people who share the same passion for yoga.
“From today’s event, it was a great session from the participants and they are doing awesome. I would definitely love to see more people from Sarawak taking part in yoga,” she said.
She also said that yoga was not only for women and encouraged more men to participate as yoga is one of the activities that could really help people to distress and reduce anxiety. Meanwhile, LUF also organised a ‘Pose and Win’ Contest, for participants who had posted their best yoga pose on their Instragram.
They stand a chance to win the Grand Prize of a full expense paid trip to participate in the inaugural ‘Yoga in The Wild’ event worth RM1,600. Those who participated in LCS’s Spend & Win Contest also get the chance to win the Grand Prize.
