KUCHING: Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) has disbursed RM111 million in funding since its inception in 2014 to support over 300 Bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sarawak.
Its chairman Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the funding could be increased to further support Sarawak’s economic development.
“Economic development in Sarawak is increasing rapidly. Of course many entrepreneurs will participate and of course they need support and capital financial strength and that is where PUNB will help.
“Qualified entrepreneurs with potential in Sarawak’s economic projects will gain a competitive edge with PUNB’s backing,” he told reporters a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Wednesday (Sept 25).
Acryl also highlighted PUNB’s assistance which goes beyond financial support, extending to guidance and training for entrepreneurs.
During the visit, discussions centred on strategies to help entrepreneurs engage in and expand their businesses, particularly in sectors such as energy and tourism in Sarawak.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, and PUNB chief executive Officer Izwan Zainuddin.
