BINTULU: The Sarawak Marine Police seized 3,000 litres of diesel worth RM5,220 from a three-ton container truck by the roadside at Jalan Pesisir Bintulu-Miri on Saturday (Oct 24).

Its Region 5 operations headquarters commanding officer ASP Ezuandi Bahadin told that the operation took place around 11.30am which was a result of monitoring carried out by Region 5 Marine Intelligence Unit.

“During inspection, the team found 3,000 litres of diesel without permit and approval from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs which is an offence under the Control of Supply Act 1961.

“The team also seized six yellow rectangular barrels valued at RM1,800,” he said in a statement.

The team also arrested a lorry driver who failed to produce the required documents as well as seizing a suspicious vehicle worth RM80,000.

Ezuandi stated that the 44-year-old driver would be detained for further investigations.

The case has been handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) for further action.
