MIRI: The Division Health Department (DHO) here has conducted a total of 308 operations from January 1 to June 30 to enforce the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations 2004.
These operations included 192 routine actions and 116 integrated efforts, as stated in a press release issued today (June 30).
During this period, the department visited a total of 6,845 premises and issued 617 notices for offenses related to smoking in non-smoking areas, with a combined penalty amounting to RM153,850.
The DHO identified food premises, shopping complexes, and airports as the top three locations with the most smoking offenses in non-smoking areas.
Additionally, the DHO reminded the public that 23 places in the city have been designated as non-smoking areas. These include eateries, air-conditioned shops, hospitals, clinics, public vehicles, public transport stops, airports, and government premises, areas used for indoor gatherings, shopping complexes, gas stations, and other locations.
