KUCHING: Thirty-one close contacts to a positive case identified at Rumah Uming, Sg Mador, Meradong on Dec 30 were admitted to quarantine centres in Sarikei and Sibu to undergo the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the active case detection activity was done by the state Health Department on all contacts to the positive case today.
“The first Covid-19 swab screening for rT-PCR test was also taken and sent to Sibu Hospital for analysis. So far, all screening tests are still pending.
“A second swab screening on the tenth day will also be done before they are allowed to return home,” it said in a statement today.
Apart from that, the Sarikei Division Health Department with the help of other agencies under the Sarikei Division Disaster Management Committee was also conducting screening on all residents in the same longhouse to ensure no residents have been infected.
The estimated population to be screened was 120. Meanwhile, the screening of 11 passengers on the same flight as the case in Sarikei was found to be negative for Covid-19.
Contact tracing for all other close contacts to this case is being carried out by the Sibu Division Health Office and Sarikei Division Health Office.
