SIBU: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sibu branch donated food items and used clothes to two families who lost their homes in a fire in Kampung Sentosa recently.
Its chairman, Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee, said the MRCS Sibu branch donated 18 sacks of clothes, 31 blankets, mineral water, instant noodles, and other items to the fire victims.
“It is our hope that all the fire victims remain patient and persevere in facing the situation,” he said after the presentation ceremony of the donation here yesterday (Sept 7).
On Sept 5, at 6.03 pm, two houses inhabited by the two families, located at Lorong Sentosa 6 Timur, Kampung Usahajaya were gutted by fire.
The fire was extinguished by 9 pm, but the damage was severe, leaving 31 residents (19 from the first house and 12 from the second) without homes.
Fortunately, the victims managed to escape to safety, and no injuries were reported.
