MIRI: Two men suspected of drug trafficking were among 32 drug addicts arrested in a raid at a house in Krokop here, last Tuesday.
The raid conducted by a team from the Sarawak Police Contingent’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) started at 1.30pm and ended two hours later. The suspects detained were aged between 20 and 41 years.
Head of Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Superintendent Sahar Abdul Latif said the raid was conducted at a house where drug addicts gathered.
He added that all the suspects including a woman were arrested for drug abuse.
“In the raid, two men were found having syabu and were detained under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 while the rest were detained under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a media statement, yesterday.
Sahar also said two transparent plastic packets containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu weighing 0.51 grams were also seized.
He said initial investigations revealed that all the suspects have no previous criminal record but the results of urine tests found that they were all positive for drug.
“All the suspects are now being detained at the Miri Central Police Station for further action,” he said.
