KUCHING: Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii recently presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to 32 recipients in the Meradong constituency.
Speaking at the MRP grant presentation ceremony at the Meradong branch, Service Centre in Sarikei, he advised the recipients to use the allocations wisely and according to the set guidelines.
Huang, who is also Sarikei MP, explained he would divide the federal allocation equally between the Meradong and Repok constituencies.
“The flood problem that often occurs in the rural areas of Meradong has been resolved.
“More than 20 flood mitigation projects under the supervision of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarikei Division have been completed recently,” said Huang, who is also Repok assemblyman.
Meanwhile, among the grant recipients were the Methodist Iban Church Pasar Bintangor; Meradong Life Care Society; Chiang Hsia Huang Meradong Association; Foochow Meradong Association (Women’s Bureau); Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Perdana Nanga Selidap, Meradong; and 27 Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).
Huang hoped that the PTAs, schools, district education offices could work together to develop and improve the quality of education in Sarikei.
