KUCHING: Thirty-three errant individuals were fined RM1,000 each for failure to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) from last Friday till Sunday (Sept 4 to 6).
Acting district police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said SOP compliance operations were carried out separately at three locations — along Kuching Waterfront, an entertainment house at Jalan Ang Cheng Ho, and a car accessory shop at Jalan Song.
Police found 27 men and six women in violation of the recovery movement control order SOP.
All individuals were given a 14-day period from the date of the issuance of the compounds to pay up at the Kuching Division Health Office.
The individuals were compounded in accordance with Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No 7) Regulations 2020.
“Police will continue to intensify monitoring and inspection at all premises in this district and will ensure that the SOP, including the use of face masks in public places, is fully adhered to.
“Stern action will be taken against any individual who disobey,” Supt Merbin said in a statement.
