MIRI: As of Wednesday (May 26), 33 out of 176 people screened from the Jalan Dato Permaisuri Cluster in Miri have tested positive for Covid-19, including the index case.

The Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) said 140 tested negative while three were still awaiting test results.

This was a result of active case detection (ACD) carried out among close contacts and social contacts.

“All the positive cases have been referred to the hospital for treatment and monitoring and they were admitted to the Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Miri District. Other close contacts have been quarantined in their respective homes,” Miri DDMC said on Wednesday.

The Jalan Dato Permaisuri Cluster, which was reported on May 25, is a community cluster detected at a residential home located at Jalan Dato Permaisuri 2C, here.

“The index case for this cluster is Case 34,172, a woman aged 22, who was detected through symptomatic screening.

“The index case was found to have had a social gathering, involving 11 people comprising the index case, three members of the same household, and seven of their social contacts.”

The public are also urged to limit interactions with other people aside from family members living in the same household, and to always practise social distancing and the use of face masks.

“Miri DDMC once again reminds those who will celebrate the upcoming Gawai festival to comply with the SOP set by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.
