MUKAH: A total of 34 recipients received land compensation amounting to RM1.3 million for the Kampung Petanak Scheme Alternative Road Project. They received the payments on the First Floor of Menara Pehin Setia Raja here recently.
Compensation cheques were handed over to all recipients by Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
Len told that the state government actually continues to commit to land surveying for Native Customary Rights (NCR) lands under a new initiative starting in 2010.
He said in his speech, until now, about one million hectares of NCR lands have been measured in the period from 2010 to 2023. The entire NCR land area is estimated at 1.6 million hectares and there is not much left to be measured.
Therefore, he hopes for cooperation, especially from the public, to facilitate ease of the measurement works.
He also denied claims by some government parties denying ownership of the land, but it turned out to be absurd and just a wild accusation.
“The state government also has many development plans involving the construction of infrastructure throughout Sarawak either in implementation or in planning.
“Everything will have a positive impact on the development of the state as a whole,” he explained.
The same ceremony also witnessed the handing over of the Bumiputera Communal Reserve Gazette Section Six of the State Land Code to the Iban community in Hulu Sikat, Batang Mukah involving a land area of 46.67 hectares.
State assemblyman for Tellian Royston Valentine was also present.
