SARIKEI: A total of 34 primary and secondary schools here received a personal contribution totalling RM1 million from Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.
The assemblyman said his personal contribution to the schools was for them to use in holding school activities as well as to ease the financial burden of parents, especially involving children at the early stage of schooling.
“As always, I have always point out that I emphasise the importance of education for our children.
“As Repok representative since 2016, I have been working hard every year to get the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) from the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to improve school facilities and infrastructures,” he said.
He added that he also provided school and learning materials like school uniforms, shoes and school bags to the pupils in Repok regardless of race or religion since 2019.
Huang made these comments when attending the handover of the monetary contribution in the form of cheque at Grand Empire Palace Restaurant on Tuesday (Jan 25).
At the same time, he also presented a cheque worth RM100,000 to Tadika Sze Hua as fund for their school activities and other purposes related to education.
The assemblyman hoped that his personal contribution would benefit schools in Repok. Schools should the fund for to provide better learning environment for the students, he urged.
