35-door longhouse gets electricity under RES project

SONG: Rumah Samiggat Ulu Lajan here has recently been connected with electric supply under the Rural Electrification Scheme (RES) project implementation.

According to Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi, the project with a cost of RM7.7 million is completed and benefited 35 household doors of the longhouse which is located about six kilometres from the Song/Kapit road.

“Besides that, not far from the longhouse there is also a telecommunications tower that is being built under the JENDELA programme.

“This tower is expected to be operational by June, next year,” he said.

He said this on his Facebook post yesterday following the officiating ceremony for the provision of electricity supply at Rumah Samiggat Ulu Lajan, recently.

Julaihi added that he also approved the allocation of a special grant for the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Samiggat.

Also present during the ceremony were Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan, Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit and others.
