BINTULU: A comprehensive immigration operation led by the Immigration Enforcement Unit (UPI) recently apprehended a total of 35 individuals for various immigration offences during inspection at 25 locations around Bintulu division.
The operation, which began on Friday noon (October 18) had been extended into the early hours today (19 Oct), targeting high-risk areas.
The inspection covered 15 identified “hotspots,” including food premises, fish markets, factories, workshops, convenience stores, shared housing units, and shophouses.
In total, 89 individuals were screened during the operation. Out of those examined, 35 people – 29 men and 6 women – were arrested under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The offences included failure to present valid travel documents, overstaying, and not possessing a valid pass to remain in Malaysia.
Authorities emphasised that such operations were part of its ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with immigration laws.
The public is urged to cooperate by providing any relevant information concerning illegal immigration.

The operation reflects a continued commitment to maintaining law and order, particularly in areas identified as immigration “hotspots.”
