A TOTAL of 366 deeds involving an area of approximately 612 hectares (1,511 acres) have been handed out in Ngemah under Section 18 of the State Land Code (KTN) as of Oct 30 this year.
“Through the New Initiative of the Native Customary Rights (NCR) Land Survey Programme, as of the same period, nine areas have been gazetted under Section 6 of KTN involving 27,266 hectares (67,372 acres).
“Three out of nine of the areas involving approximately 19,974 hectares (49,355 acres) were approved for individual survey (stage two) for land title under Section 18,” said Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
He said this in response to a question from Anyi Jana (GPS-Ngemah) on the areas that had been surveyed in Ngemah and the ministry’s plan to conduct survey on the remaining lands.
In Ngemah, Len said there were still valid NCR claims, therefore, claimants were advised to present written applications to the Land and Survey Department, Sibu Division.
Anyi also asked the progress of measuring NCR land in Ngemah according to the number of applications received so far and purpose of land measurement of Section 6 and Section 6A.
“Land and Survey Department has received 16 applications for the measurement of the perimeter of NCR land under Section 6 of KTN within Ngemah.
“Of the total, 14 applications have been approved with an area of approximately 62,822 hectares (155,233 acres) while two applications are still in the review process,” said Len.
“Twelve areas have already been measured of which nine with an area of 27,266 hectares (67,374 acres) have been gazetted under Section 6 KTN.”
“While three areas comprising 15,928 hectares (39,349 acres) will be gazetted in the near future. Two other areas that have been approved are at the measurement stage.
“The land measurement under Section 6 is to measure the perimeter and gazette NCR land as a Bumiputera Communal Reserve.
“While land measurement under Section 6A of KTN is to measure and issue a title land of Native Communal Title for Native Territorial Domain (NTD) land,” Len explained.
