KUCHING: Puncak Borneo Parliamentary Service Centre has distributed 3,993 food baskets to deserving families in the constituency.

The recipients include families in three state constituencies, namely, Mambong where 1,631 food baskets have been distributed, Tarat (1,369) and Serumbu (993).

Members of the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Penrissen Branch, DBNA Siburan Branch and the Padawan 4×4 Club and the Puncak Borneo Parliamentary Service Centre staff helped to distribute the food baskets. 

On Sunday (July 25), Plantation Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister and Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin also joined the Padawan 4×4 Club and DBNA Penrissen Branch members to send food baskets to 796 families in three villages, namely, Kampung Seratau in Siburan; Kampung Nyiru/Grait and Kampung Garung in Puncak Borneo who were affected by the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

Meantime, during the handing over of cheques and T-shirts to the DBNA Penrissen and Siburan branches at his office on Sunday, Willie urged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to help alleviate the burden of the community affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“NGOs are also encouraged to explain government initiatives such as the National Recovery Programme to the people,” he said.

Also present were DBNA Penrissen Branch chairman Alloysius Kuyong, DBNA Siburan chairman Janer Jikel and Padawan 4×4 Club president Macelenus Meran.
