KUCHING: The 3rd Rainforest Fringe Festival (RFF) will be held at the Old Courthouse here from July 5 – 12 this year.

Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah announced this today during a press conference at the auditorium of the Old Courthouse.

The 3rd Rainforest Fringe Festival is a prelude to the Rainforest World Music Festival and Borneo Jazz Festival, featuring music, art, craft, film, photography, food, and culture of Sarawak.

Karim stressed that this year’s event would include programmes that showcased the histories and cultures of major communities in the state.

“In line with the Visit Sarawak Year’s campaign this year, “Sarawak, More to Discover”, we have seen several events that have been held and will be held.

“Thank you to Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) for working hard with other agencies to promote what Sarawak has to offer to other countries,” he added.

Meanwhile, festival director Joe Sidek said, “Sarawak is also the proud home of a major community, the Malays and this time we will be presenting “Asas Melayu”, which has been produced in collaboration with “Amanah Khairat Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak”.  It will include talks, film, food and music.
