SIBU: Four of the six individuals arrested for theft and possession of weapons (shotguns) on Wednesday were released on police bail yesterday.
This was confirmed by its district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit.
“Four were released on bail, while the other two are still being detained for having unlicensed shotguns,” he said when contacted.
The case was initially investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and Section 39 of the Firearms Act 1960.
The suspects, aged between 20 and 46, including two women were arrested after being detained at an oil palm estate in Durin for theft and possession of weapons.
In the 1.30pm incident on Wednesday, a 33-year-old canteen operator (complainant) in the said estate was informed by his father that someone had trespassed into their pig farm.
This prompted the complainant, accompanied by three others and a security personnel, to inspect their farm at about 5.30pm on the same day. They later found an occupied car parked in the estate.
Following a thorough check, the complainant found two pigs that were slaughtered and butchered to various sections. Besides that, they also found two shotguns and five machetes (parang) in the said car.
Stanley also said that the complainant had believed that the animals came from his farm with an estimated loss worth RM1,600 and the shotguns belonging to his grandfather.
