A villager, Baharudin Abdul Karim, 34, said following the landslide, it seemed as though the cemetery was not there anymore. “The landslide was discovered by villagers who were looking for fruits in the area. “In fact all the graves are at risk from being washed away by erosion on the river bank.

“We are concerned that more graves will be affected if not action is taken to mitigate the erosion,” he said. Hence, Baharudin appealed to the affected families to together repair the affected graves.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Muslim Cemetery of Bukit Stirau, Haji Muhammad Suhaili said they have lodge a report on the matter with Sri Aman Police Headquarters and other agencies concerned for their further actions. A ‘no entry’ order to the affected area has been issued yesterday for the safety of the villagers.
