MUKAH: Granting minor rural projects (MRP) is a key priority for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to ensure the smooth implementation of community activities across various areas.

“The purpose of this grant is to facilitate organised activities in the community,” Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi highlighted.

During the MRP grant presentation ceremony on Monday (July 10) here, he stated that grants were awarded to 40 recipients, including Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and clubs indirectly involved in the N.58 Balingian area.

“Our government is committed to ongoing development in Sarawak and will continue to provide grants to support organised activities in their respective areas,” he affirmed.

The total amount of the MRP grant was RM555,000. Cheques for associations, clubs, and JKKK were distributed to recipients at the service centre, totalling RM360,000, with the remaining balance presented at the ceremony.

He urged JKKK and clubs that did not receive a grant to directly contact the N.58 Balingian service centre to determine their eligibility.

“We need to review the applications because some smaller bureaus under JKKK have requested grants. Due to financial constraints, it is not possible to provide grants to all areas as this is a large region.

“However, reconsideration is possible if there are larger crowds or activities involving multiple villages. The grants provided today are specifically for existing JKKKs in individual villages.”

Abdul Yakub expressed his hope that the grants would be utilised effectively to support planned activities in their respective areas.

The ceremony was also attended by acting Mukah District Officer, Peleadzman Ahip.
