40 to attend dragon-lion dance coaching and refereeing course

KUCHING: Forty Sarawak officials have signed up to attend the dragon-lion dance coaching and refereeing course held by Sarawak Dragon-Lion Dance Association (PTNSWS) and supported by Sarawak Youth and Sports Department (JBS) to be held at Guang Ming Secondary School in Sibu on 1and 2 June 2017.

The course which is opened to all Sarawakians will be coordinated and conducted by PTNSWS Technical Chairman Nelson Nguang and assisted by Vincent Thong.

In a simple ceremony to announce the Sarawak dragon-lion dance Ccoaching and refereeing course, JBS Director Tuan Hj Abdul Haris Bin Hj Ishak handed over the course kit to PTNSWS President Matthew Lee King Choon.

Also present were PTNSWS Treasurer Thomas Liu, Advisor Chester Lim, officials Nelson Nguang, Calvin Kong and Vincent Thong.

According to PTNSWS President Matthew Lee, this Sarawak level cCourse is prelude to the Malaysia dragon-lion dance coaching and refereeing course organised by Dragon and Lion Dances Federation of Malaysia to be held from 24 to 28 June here that is expected to attract participation of more than 80 officials from throughout Malaysia.

Meanwhile PTNSWS has a busy schedule of events for the coming months that include three international level events, Sarawak Boulevard International Lion Dance Championship in Kuching in September and Borneo Cup Lion Dance Championship in Bintulu in October and 7th Borneo Cup Wushu Championships in Sibu in July and Sarawak level events that include the Sarikei Inter-Secondary School Wushu Championship in June and Sarawak Inter-School in Mukah in September.
