BINTANGOR: A total of 400 teenagers aged 16 to 17 years received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines at Dewan Masyarakat Bintangor vaccination centre (PPV) on Thursday (Sept 9).
The Sarawak Information Department (JaPen) said that out of the 400 recipients, 247 were students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Bintangor (SMKBB) and the rest were students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tong Hua, Tulai.
A form four student of SMKBB, Fellycynthia Gelima Andrews said that she was informed of the vaccination appointment date a few days ago.
The 16-year-old said that although she was nervous, she felt fortunate to have been given the chance to be one of the first teenagers to receive the jab here yesterday.
Ezamie Kassandy Tanight, also a form four student of SMKBB, expressed similar feelings as they both hoped that they would be better protected from the Covid-19 virus after inoculation.
They also advised their friends who have yet to receive their vaccination to always maintain strict personal hygiene and safety to avoid contracting the virus.
All the teenagers received the Pfizer vaccine during the inoculation yesterday.
