KUCHING: Sarawak police have deployed a total of 400 police personnel to ensure the safety of road users during the six-day operation codenamed ‘Ops Lancar’ which coincides with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri told reporters the operation started yesterday (June 27) and will end on July 2.
“The operation is being held throughout Sarawak and it involves officers and members from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.
“To ensure smooth traffic flow is effectively coordinated, the operation will focus on 25 strategic locations where road congestion and accidents often occur,” he said.
He advised the public to plan a safe and smooth journey to avoid congestion, adding that all road users must obey instructions from traffic control authorities and drive safely as well as ensure the vehicle is in good condition before starting the journey.
“They should also have a second driver if the journey is far, plan their schedule and travel time and try to take a 15-minute break if they are feeling tired or sleepy.
