KUCHING: Some 4000 people are expected to attend the Ibu Pertiwiku Concert 2017 on 21 October 2017, 8.30pm at Arena Gemilang DeTar Putra UNIMAS, here.

According to RTM Sarawak Assistant Director of Broadcasting, Faridah Sulong, the concert will be held for the first time in conjunction with the 81st birthday celebration of the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Taib Mahmud and the 25th Anniversary of University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

“The concert will be attended by the guests of honour, His Excellency and his wife, Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib, Chief Minister Datuk Pat ing g i (Dr ) Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang and Communications and Multimedia Minister, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak,” she said during a press conference on Ibu Pertiwiku Concert 2017 at Auditor ium RTM here, on Tuesday.

She also said that the concert is a collaboration between RTM, state Government and UNIMAS which will feature the famous Sarawak ethnic songs, popular Malay and English songs in various rhythms and instrumental performances of the RTM Orchestra.

Meanwhile, according to RTM programme Producer, Zaidi Bujang, there will be an exclusive presentation that combines the performances of new and old artistes in a show featuring three special segments namely the pre-development of Sarawak, the rapid-growing era and Sarawak Develop State by 2030.

“The story of Sarawak’s development will be featured through a presentation by students of SK RPR Astana and declamation of poem. “Besides that, the show will also feature popular songs by the late Seniman Agung, Tan Sri P. Ramlee, the Sarawak classical songs and the latest songs including international songs,” he said.

UNIMAS’ Head of Endowment and Waqaf Division, Dayang Nur Hajijah Awang Daud said that the passes for the concert can be obtained at UNIMAS starting 2.00pm yesterday (Oct 18). “The pass is to control and facilitate the entry and exit of visitors, staffs and UNIMAS students,” she said.

She added that the public are advised to come early to avoid traffic congestion and to have proper parking space. Among the artistes who will take part in the concert are Datuk Hajah Sarbanun Merican, Dayang Nurfaezah, Hafiz Suip, Noraniza Idris, Dewi Liana Seriestha, Emil Hamlyn, Saufi Yahya (Sape) Merzan Mercahang/ Masitah, Manap Seron/Elyna Gabr iel, Mohd Shah Rezza, Abdul Halim Hisamuddin, Azlan Golie, SK RPR As t ana s tudent s , Az i e Mustapha, Hisham Salleh and RTM Orchestra.
