4,000 expected at TEGAS Youth Forum

KUCHING: Approximately 4,000 youths are expected to attend the TEGAS Youth Forum 2017 on October 14.

The seventh in its series, the forum, with the theme “Sarawak Transformation Through Digital Economy”, will take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). 

According to Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is also expected to have a forum with the youths on the subject matter.

“The idea of a digital economy has always been there, except now, it has been given emphasis by our Chief Minister.

“This forum is a good platform for our youths to see where our state is going with digital economy.

“Through the forum, they can learn about  digital economy. This is especially important for our youths in the rural areas,” Snowdan told a press conference held at BCCK here yesterday.

According to him, during the event,   Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) will introduce four young speakers in its tSPARK programme.

The speakers are MaGIC digital curator, Jonathan Lee, Arus Academy educator, Alina Amir, Thriving Talents motivator, Michael Teoh, and DIYKL’s Saran Tagal.

From morning to afternoon, there will be performances by Asraf Hardy and Shasha Ningkan and modern dance performances by Rock Em Right Redemption.

There will also be an event by Hackwknd Kuching which will engage with the youths   to produce web, mobile, or hardware projects from scratch within 36 to 54 hours.
