MUKAH: The Sarawak government will be building 42 houses under the Rumah Spektra Permata (Spektra) affordable housing programme in the Jemoreng constituency.
Assemblyman Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya said the project was an initiative to help people, especially in rural areas, to own houses at affordable prices.
“It’s also the state government’s effort to bring change and development to rural areas by developing new settlements.
“However, only applicants who meet the requirements set by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) are entitled to buy these houses,” he said at the launch of the Igan Spektra Housing Project near here on Monday.
Meanwhile, HDC CEO Mohamad Asman Ahmad said the first phase of the Spektra houses in the Jemoreng constituency would involve 22 and 20 houses in Igan and Matu respectively.
“These homes, priced from RM100,000 to RM120,000, will be built within 10 months.
“In addition, we will distribute 200 application forms to the assemblyman’s office and only those who meet the prescribed conditions will be given priority to purchase these homes,” he explained.
Among the requirements are applicants must be 30 years old and above, single or married, have dependents as well as earning RM3,000 or less per month.
Also present at the launch were Matu District Officer Wan Hipni Wan Mohamad and Deputy Resident Abdul Halim Abdullah.
