KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Seri Kenyalang Fund has successfully provided assistance to a total of 439 Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) students from 2017 until 2023.

According to Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz, UiTM pro-chancellor and president of UiTM Sarawak Alumni Association (MITSA), the total amount of aid issued during the period was RM221,947.00.

“Our ceremony this evening is very meaningful because the donation amounting to RM50,000.00 was presented to ease the financial burden of students and the less able who are studying at UiTM Sarawak branch.

Aziz speaks during the presentation of the “Tabung Seri Kenyalang” Donation Cheque Presentation Ceremony.

“It is a donation channelled to the account of the MITSA association by Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom, Food Safety, Commodity and Regional Development Advisor. We feel very grateful for the support and enthusiasm for this Tabung Seri Kenyalang to help ease the financial burden of underprivileged students who are studying at UiTM Sarawak branch,” he said.

He said this during the “Tabung Seri Kenyalang” (TSK) Donation Cheque Presentation Ceremony, UiTM Sarawak Branch held at the Samarahan Campus, yesterday.

Furthermore, he praised UiTM’s approach of hosting events of such sort for Bumiputeras residing far from the city as well, highlighting the abundance of chances available to them to pursue further education and career goals, particularly for degrees.

“We focus on one course that can improve many more of our Bumiputera citizens in their abilities in the field of education,” he added.

TSK is a special fund that aims to help students pay tuition fees, living expenses and natural disaster relief as well as needs during their studies at university such as assisting with the purchase of a laptop or help with the International Mobility and Industrial Training Programme.

The symbolic handover ceremony of the donation cheque replica was also witnessed by the Executive Committee Members (JKEN) of UiTM Sarawak Branch and some MITSA committee members.
