A total of RM2 billion was allocated for the period of 2015 to 2018 for the implementation of 7,283 Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) in the State.
Speaking during the winding-up session in the August House here yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that as of October 30, 4,402 projects or 60.4 per cent of the total number of projects had been completed while the remaining 2,881 projects were still at various stages of implementation.
He added that since 2015, the projects implemented had tremendously benefited the people especially in the rural areas.
He also expressed his gratitude to members of the August House for their unwavering support and dedication to ensure the successful implementation of RTP.
“The state government is committed to improving the basic infrastructures, utilities and social amenities in rural areas to enable rural communities to enjoy better quality of life,” said Uggah.
Meanwhile, he said that the disbursement of RTP allocation was channelled to the relevant implementing agencies who would directly implement, supervise and monitor the project implementation.
“The number of RTP is increasing and the implementation of projects is becoming more challenging.
“Therefore, the state government has developed a new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to further strengthen the RTP management to improve the delivery system.
“The new SOP came into force on August 1, 2018. I am pleased to inform that with the new SOP in place, we have managed to address many shortcomings and accelerate the RTP implementation. It has certainly facilitated in the smooth implementation of RTP in the state,” he added.
He also urged his fellow colleagues to continue working hand in hand with the agencies to closely monitor the project implementation in order to ensure the projects were on track and completed as scheduled.
