SIBU: An illegal logging operation at Ulu Sungai Amang, Kapit has been foiled by a joint enforcement team comprising Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) Sibu Regional Office, Forest Department Sarawak and Marine Police in a Compliance Task Force Operation.

This was disclosed in SFC statement explaining that the enforcement team received information from the licensee when they came upon piles of logs without official markings which were believed to have been illegally extracted from a nearby forest timber licence area.

Forty-nine logs and two tractors found at the scene were seized by the team.

“A report has been lodged at Kapit Police Station and the State Forest Department will conduct further investigation as the next course of action,” the statement added.
