PAKAN: A man cheated death when his four wheel drive (4WD) almost plunged downhill due to a landslide at Engkamop at 8KM Jalan Pakan in Pakan, Julau yesterday.

Bintangor Fire Station chief Nicolas Belulin when contacted said they received an emergency call on the accident around 8am today. Bintangor Fire Station is the nearest fire station.

“The driver was heading to Pakan when the incident occurred at 4am.

“The victim didn’t see it (the landslide) as the road to Pakan has no lighting and is very dark.

“The journey to Pakan on road is very dark and visibility is quite blurry and this could be the case with the driver as he could not see properly but managed to stop his vehicle before plunging downhill.

“The traumatised victim was brought to a clinic nearby by passers-by at the scene this morning.

“However, the Identity, age and vehicle used by him in the incident have not been verified,” said Nicholas when speaking to reporters.
