PADAWAN: The 4×4 tournament challenge at the off-road track of Ma’asa Eco-Tourism and Event Centre, Jalan Semadang-Jambusan here will be featured in the Puncak Borneo Tourism calendar.
Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Wongin said he planned to set the event as an annual one which could enliven the motoring sport in the area.
“We welcome all enthusiasts of 4×4 challenge to this new track and it is open for all with an affordable fee to be announced soon.
“Meanwhile, on the tournament, we will probably hold it next year during the dry season, around March or April,” he said.
He said this in a press conference after officiating at the new track of 4×4 organised by the Padawan Adventure 4×4 Club at Ma’asa Eco-Tourism and Event Centre, Jalan Semadang-Jambusan on Sunday.
He then said with the activities and tournament of 4X4 challenge, it would eventually bring economic benefits to the people in the surrounding areas.
“There will be selling activities of foods and drinks as well as benefit the other business such as workshops and accessories shops for 4×4 vehicles,” he added.
Willie also hoped, with the new motoring sport, it will overcome and eradicate the negative social activities among the community.
“I would also hope that the locals will not think that this sport is only for the rich people but it can be joined by all as long as you have the passion for it,” he said.
Elaborating further on the next year’s challenge, Willie said he gave his full support and would ensure it happens.
“We already dream big about this for a long time and it is about time to rejuvenate the activities.
“We pray that it will be a reality and we received a lot of feedback from the enthusiasts that they really want to venture in the challenge at this new track,” Willie said.
