KUCHING: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has outlined five main pillars and 25 thrusts with 215 commitments in its manifesto for the 15th general election (GE15).
The manifesto was launched by GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here on Sunday evening (Nov 6).
The five main pillars are:
1. Stable and resilient politics, socio-economy and finances led by farsighted leaders that prioritise Sarawk’s future
2. Infrastructures and facilities development in urban and rural areas for the people’s wellbeing
3. Economic transformation and diversified revenue generation to drive Sarawak’s development
4. Training of human capital, upholding social justice as well as religious beliefs
5. Efficient government administration with high integrity as a catalyst of development in Sarawak
The manifesto contains 25 thrusts that GPS is committed and pledges to implement for a stable, developed, prosperous and a glorious Sarawak by 2030, namely:
1. Ensuring Sarawak’s political stability and strength
2. Defending Sarawak’s rights within the Federation of Malaysia in accordance with MA63, IGC report, the Sarawak Constitution and the Federal Constitution
3. Ensuring and safeguarding the rights of Sarawakians in accordance with the Federal Constitution
4. Protecting the sovereignty and maintaining security of Sarawak
5. Enhancing government services based on integrity and good governance
6. Developing basic infrastructures such as roads, bridges, ports and airports
7. Expanding the coverage and quality of water supply, electricity, telecommunications towers and internet services
8. Transforming the rural areas, villages and longhouses
9. Developing modern, thriving, liveable and safe towns and cities
10. Developing quality human capital through technical and vocational education and training
11. Expanding the accessibility and quality of health services
12. Accelerating the development of manufacturing, services, tourism and creative industry sectors to drive Sarawak’s economy
13. Modernising and commercialising agricultural and food sectors
14. Raising the income and standard of living farmers, breeders and fishermen
15. Raising Sarawak’s income and exploring new industries based on green technology
16. Creating business and employment opportunities to raise the income of Sarawakians
17. Providing infrastructures, grants, market access, entrepreneurial training for small-medium entrepreneurs, traders and hawkers
18. Implementing inclusive policies that ensure religious freedom and the liberty to practise respective customs, cultures and heritage for social harmony and unity
19. Caring for the elderly, people with disabilities and children, and alleviating burdens of the B40 group
20. Recognising Native Customary Rights (NCR) land and continuing land surveys
21. Providing affordable houses, developing more resettlement schemes including carrying out village expansion, home repair and longhouse construction assistances for Sarawakians
22. Empowering women in the development of Sarawak
23. Ascertaining active participation of youth in the development of Sarawak
24. Developing sports sector to create a healthy society and produce renowned athletes
25. Preserving and conserving the environment for present and future generations
