KUCHING: A total of 50 people participated in a two-day Jil Al-Quran course at the Al-Abyad mosque’s seminar room, Taman Matang Jaya here recently.
The course was jointly organised by Matang Jaya Al-Abyad mosque, Akhi Ukhti Sarawak Rannuhabban association (Prau), Kuching Elmu Lovers Club, Mimbar Permuafakatan Ibu Bapa Malaysia (Mapim) Sarawak and Sarawak Sidma College.
Mapim president Omar Immun said the course, entitled Permata Dalam Kaca (Gems in a Glass), was a continuation of its first and second series which was held earlier this year.
He said the course is aimed to produce more scholars of Islam.
“The idea of this course series was a result of talks and discussions between Mapim and Sidma College on Feb 17 this year and to date, several courses were successfully held in the Kuching and Kota Samarahan divisions.
“With the combination of my ideas and Dr Fatimah Bujang’s, who is the Sidma College’s Faculty of Quran and Sunnah dean, the course paper, Permata Dalam Kaca, was created in which Jil Al-Quran intended to give birth to a Quranic generation that is committed to learning and teaching the Al-Quran as an important instrument in a Muslim’s life.
“From this paper, a joint committee of organisers was formed to carry out the courses planned throughout 2019,” he added.
