BINTULU: An Adat Iban 1993 (Iban customs) seminar/workshop for community leaders (ketua masyarakat) and village chiefs (ketua kaum) of Tatau District was held last Monday (Oct 26) till Tuesday (Oct 27) at Promenade Hotel here.
Fifty ketua masyarakat and ketua kaum (KMKK) were involved in the two-day programme.
Present at the event were Council for Customs and Traditions (Mais) head Ronnie Edward, Tatau District administrative officer Winnie Dian, and Pemanca for Tatau District Gerosen Jubin.
The workshop included talks on Adat Berumah dan Berkebun (home and gardening), Adat Pemati dan Tebalu (death and widowhood), Adat Belaki Bebini (marriage), and others that are related to the Adat Iban 1993.
According to Gerosen, the workshop aimed to strengthen the KMKK’s knowledge on Iban traditions and he hoped that such programme would continue in the future.
