MUKAH: Some 50 units of Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) are being planned at a new site at Kampung Tellian Jaya (Tellian Laut) here.
It is understood that the site, probably near the junction of Jalan Tellian and Jalan Wawasan, was cleared a few years ago, complete with access road network.
Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo said the houses were planned including for people affected by the proposed Mukah Riverfront project.
According to him, the project would be developed by the state’s Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
“The plan and details will be discussed with the Sarawak government,” he said when officiating at the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) at Kampung Petanak community hall here on Tuesday (Oct 6).
More than 100 participants comprising Tellian constituents attended the one-day programme, which featured talks and practical sessions.
Yussibnosh, who is also former Balingian assemblyman, explained that houseowners at the bank of Batang Mukah, who were affected by the proposed Riverfront project, might be advised to move to a new location.
On the proposed Mukah Riverfront project, he revealed that the proposal had been listed as a priority under the coming 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12:2021-2025).
According to him, there were many comments on the proposed project in social media lately.
Mukah district agriculture department assistant officer-in-charge Benedict Thomas, Sarawak administrative officer Nolin Gendang who represented Mukah district officer, Pemanca Mohamad @ Jali Kawi and Penghulu Edmund Innu Sebli also attended the event.
