KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian lauded the 50 years of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China as a resounding success, crediting the foresight of past leaders.

“Malaysia was the first Southeast Asian nation to establish diplomatic relations with China.

“The relationship continues to strengthen not just between political leaders, but among our people.

“It transcends economics and monetary value. It’s deeply embedded in our cultural exchanges and shared experiences,” said Dr. Sim at a press conference after the launching of the Asian Cultural Heritage Youth Forum 2024 and a Memorandum Signing Ceremony between Swinburne Sarawak and Fudan University today (May 31).

He said that the enduring success of this diplomatic relations involved the grassroots participation of nearly all citizens.

“99.9% of people are contributing in their own way, enhancing the ties between Malaysia, China, and particularly between Sarawak and China.
