KUCHING: More than 500 attended the Sarawak Headmasters Conference (Southern Zone) 2018 at Imperial Hotel here yesterday.
Director of State Education Department, Rakayah Madon, who officiated the conference’s closing ceremony, advised participants on the importance of leadership.
“To be a leader, you have to be able to take criticisms and learn from it. You also have to treat people well and allow them to be the very best in whatever they do.
“You must also never sacrifice the people to save numbers but instead, you would soon sacrifice the numbers to save people,” she said.
She added that leadership was a choice, not a position and that participants have to be caring and possess mindfulness.
“You have been chosen to be leaders, so take this opportunity and do it well,” she said before ending her speech.
