KUCHING: More than 500 participants participated in a webinar organised by Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) recently.
The webinar titled ‘Forward Malaysia: Charting New Paths to the Next Normal’ was held in collaboration with the Malaysia Advanced Acute Internal Medicine & Ultrasound Society (MAAIMUSS).
“We focused on exclusive Covid-19 updates, vaccination developments, and the future of medical education.
“The event aims to tackle the pressing issues of Covid-19 and discuss the way forward and onward beyond the pandemic, in addition to mapping the future of the next generation of upcoming healthcare professionals.
“It also aims to provide insights on what everyone can do to navigate towards the next normal with greater resilience,” said NUMed chief operating officer Premila Nair.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who spoke at the event, said that despite the disruption caused by the pandemic, medical students should continuously learn and gain new skill sets and competencies.
“It is important that doctors be able to tackle future pandemics and other complex healthcare problems,” said Dr Noor Hisham during his speech.
In addition, NUMed and MAAIMUSS also hosted breakout sessions for career development and employment updates for medical graduates and student participants.
