MUKAH: About 5,000 visitors flocked to the Pehin Setia Raja Square to enliven the Rentak Ruai Concert in conjunction with the Ngiling Bidai Festival, here.

The festival which started at around 8 pm on Saturday was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib and Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi.

Before the Ngiling Bidai event, guests and visitors had the opportunity to witness performances from several guest artistes such as Naim Daniel, Winnie Albert and Hairee Francis.

Ngiling Bidai or rolling the mat denotes the closing ceremony of the Gawai festival, which is usually performed at the end of the Gawai month.

In addition to entertainment from guest artistes, kuntau martial art and ngajat performances were also presented.

Through these performances, the arts and culture of the Iban community, especially among the younger generation can be preserved.

Thus, through a festival like this, it not only gives exposure to other communities about the celebration of Hari Gawai, but also strengthens friendships with each other.
