KUCHING: Fifty-three students and academic staff from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus received their award certification and membership to the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

A professional association for Australia’s Information and Communications (ICT) sector, the presentation ceremony took place at the campus here on Wednesday.

According to Swinburne Sarawak Deputy Vice-Chancellor and CEO Professor Janet Gregory, this allowed the university’s students and academic staff to be part of a network of a prestigious ICT team.

“They will know about the latest technology and developments going on in the ICT world.

“It is valuable knowledge and with it, they can apply it to.

“This is also in-line with the Chief Minister’s vision for a digitalised state,” she said.

ACS president Anthony Wong added that ICT is a career that has no boundaries.

“The ACS certification is recognised in many countries such as South Africa, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, and many more.

“With this, Swinburne has also become a part of ACS along with many other universities,” he said.
