FOUR Urban Renewal Project schemes have been implemented in phases, with the Darul Hana Development Project Phases 1 and 2 achieving significant progress.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said as of Oct 31, 564 houses have been fully completed under the project, with 557 houses already allocated to heads of households from Kampung Semarang, Kampung Panglima Seman Lama, Kampung Pulo Ulu, and nearby areas.

“The Urban Renewal Project is a continuous initiative by the Sarawak government to improve the welfare and socio-economic conditions of the people by providing comfortable housing, well-planned settlements with basic infrastructure, utilities, recreational facilities, places of worship, and business premises for the socio-economic development of the local community,” he said.

Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development, said this in his ministerial winding-up speech today.

He said the Sarawak government has also considered the needs of additional heads of households by providing 209 homes in Sungai Bedaun.
