BINTULU: 58 cars and 52 big bikes took part in Sarawak Day 2017 Convoy organised by Dayak Big Bickers Club (DBBC) in collaboration with various automotive and motoring clubs here yesterday.

The convoy was accompanied by 200 members of DBBC.

The event was flaged off by Samalaju assemblyman MajangRenggi at 9am with singing of the state anthem followed by a road safety briefing before starting the 26km journey from Bintulu Civic Centre towards Tg. Batu, Kidurong Road, SMK Kidurong, Bintulu Hospital, Nyabau Road, Tun Hussein Road, Medan, back to the town and ended at the Civic centre.

Majang, in his brief speech concurred with state leaders that Sarawak Day was declared with the aim of gaining people’s support through politics and social agenda.

The celebration and public holiday are useful to remind Malaysians of the early process of ‘independence’for Sarawak, he added.

He also advised the big bikers to ensure safety when on the road by being disciplined and abide by the traffic rules and conduct.

Meanwhile, President of DBBC Souven Jawa urged the younger generations to enjoy and at the same time appreciate the peace and prosperity achieved by Sarawak since 22 July, 1963.

He also shared the patriotic spirit of camaraderie among the participants like Bekeli Aji, 57 being the veteran and the younger Antesh Jabu,23, in sharing their views and ideas on how the motoring sports could be further enhanced.

Participating clubs included Speedamotor group, D2Troopers group, LC Motorcycle Club, Bintulu Bikers Community (BBC),Harley Owner Group(HOG), R25 Community Btu Region, Pelesit Bikers, BintuluVersys Owner Group (BVOG), Tatau Bikers Group, STG Group, while the Car group comprise of Bintulu Proton Owner Club(BPOC),Camprotuner club, ProXevoClub, Saga Bintulu Club(SBC),No7Car Club, Front Wheel Drive Community(FWDC) and Borneo Navara Club.

DBBC was established on 14 September , 2013 and legally registered with the Registrar of Societies on March 16, 2016.

Among the objectives of the club is for recreation and knowledge sharing among motoring enthusiasts and instill road safety awareness.
