58 Sarikei associations and NGOs receive MRP cheques

SARIKEI: A total of 58 associations, organisations, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) received cheques for the Minor Rural Project (MRP) from Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

Huang, who is also the Sarikei MP, presented the cheques to the recipients in a simple ceremony held at the Repok Constituency Service Centre recently.

During the ceremony, he said the provision of funds to these groups is part of the government’s commitment to advancing development projects.

“The government remains dedicated to implementing development initiatives and using various strategies to ensure that progress benefits everyone equally,” said the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Sustainability.

Among the recipients were Dewan Perniagaan Cina Bintangor; Jawatankuasa Rekreasi Penerangan Meradong; Meradong Basketball Club; Laus’ Association Meradong; LPS-SJKC Tung Kwong; Welfare, Cultural and Recreation Council of the National Registration Department Sarawak; and Foochow Meradong Association.

Other recipients included the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) of SJK Ming Lu; PTA of SK Sg Sian; Meradong Petanque Sports Association; PTA of SJK (C) Ming Tee; PTA of SJK (C) Yong Kwong; SRK Abang Amin; Sarawak 3rd, 6th, and 7th Divisions Lin Clan Association; and Sarawak Dayak National Union Meradong.

Meanwhile, the cheques were also distributed to Urusetia Saudara Kita; Sarikei Police Club Fund; Sarikei Medical and Health Toastmasters Club; Sarawak Taiwan Graduates Association; Sarawak Federation of Women’s Institute; Sarikei Tai Chi Association; Zhong De Social and Recreation Association; Sarikei Physical Culture Tai Chi Association; Kenyalang Parachute Sports Club; and Repok Sarikei Archery Club.

Sarikei Division Resident Office Rando Club; Repok Badminton Smasher Club; Repok Badminton Club; Sarikei Road Safety Committee; Sarikei Division Disaster Management Committee; Che Sea Khor Moral Uplifting Society; Sarikei Lorry Association; Sarikei Livestock Breeders Association; Kung Siong Social Recreation Association; and Sarikei Local Scout Federation were also among the beneficiaries.

In addition, the cheques were also presented to the Sarikei Division Cycling Association; Sarikei District Scout Council; Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak); Life Baptist Church; Jelutong Sarikei Wushu Club; Uni Sports Recreation Club; Sarikei Principals Recreation Club; Sarikei District Agriculture Department Club; BDC Industrial Rukun Tetangga Area Committee; and Sarikei Landlords Association.

Apart from that, the Sarikei Lion Club; Tung and Yong Clan Association; Sarikei Division Leong’s Clan Association; Weng Clan Association; Tzu Yang Choo Clan Association; Zhang Clan Association; Fung Clan Association; Wong Clan Association; Yung Clan Association; Cheng Kiu (Chan Khoo) Rajang Clan Association; (Fan Yang) Lu Clan Association (Sarawak, Sarikei Branch); Sarawak Liing Hung Wong Clan Association; and Chen Clan Association, Sarikei also received cheques.
