SIBU: A total of 83 vehicles were inspected and 58 summonses were issued to motorists for various traffic offences in ‘Op Cegah Samseng Jalanan’ which was carried out by the traffic police here in the town centre last Saturday night.
It was understood that the operation which began at 9.30pm and ended at 12.45am yesterday was carried out in areas along Jalan Pedada, Jalan Awang Ramli Amit, Jalan Wong Nai Siong and Jalan Brooke Drive.
Among the offences committed by motorists included driving without a licence, modified registration plates, expired road tax and modified vehicles with body kit and exhaust system in an unlawful manner.
However, no arrests were made and police did not seize any vehicles during the operation.
Sibu Police chief, ACP Saiful Bahri Abdullah when contact via WhatsApp said ‘Op Cegah Samseng Jalanan’ was a routine operation for the traffic police during weekends.
