SERIAN: The Sarawak government is committed in developing a skilled workforce to transform the state’s economy.

This was relayed by Sarawak Skills chief strategy officer, Mohamad Isham Fauzi who emphasised the significance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in today’s job market.

In view of that, Sarawak Skills together with Sarawak Electronics and Supporting Industries Companies Association (SECA), i-CATS University College, and SMK Tebedu recently co-organised an event especially for students.

A total of 582 participants, including the current Form 4 and Form 5 students and alumnis from SMK Tebedu, attended the ‘My Choice Education Programme’ held at SMK Tebedu on Tuesday.

It featured various activities designed to inform students and alumni about post-secondary educational opportunities and career pathways, including an education talk, exhibition, counselling sessions, career talk, and a presentation on career opportunities at SECA.

“The Sarawak Skills Group of Learning Institutions plays an important role in developing human resources to facilitate the transformation of Sarawak’s economy in the era of Industry Revolution 4.0 and the Digital Economy, in line with the goals of the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030),” Mohamad Isham said.

The ‘My Choice Education Programme’ is part of ongoing initiatives by Sarawak Skills, i-CATS University College, and SECA to promote the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), career pathways, and job opportunities for school leavers.

Together with their strategic partners from various industry sectors, the programme will continue to be held throughout Sarawak to support talent development.
