MIRI: A 5m-long King Cobra weighing 10kg gave a family of 12 in Jalan Bakam here goosebumps, after it was found hiding behind a wardrobe.
According to Civil Defence Department (APM) officer Capt (PA) Usman Harto, three of his colleagues rushed to the location after responding to an alert around 2.54pm, Wednesday (Aug 5).
They managed to safely remove the highly venomous reptile, 10 minutes after arriving at the premises.
“The homeowner’s granddaughter, who is 12, made the shocking discovery. She had just returned from school.
“She thought someone was sleeping inside the room as she heard what sounded like snoring. She then alerted her 75-year-old grandmother,” said Capt (PA) Usman.
No one was injured in the incident.
