KUCHING: The prestigious Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) X style model search series is the right platform to promote the creative industry in Malaysia especially in Sarawak.
KLFW founder, Andrew Tan said, it not only promotes the creative industry, but also serves as an opportunity to find talented and excellent individuals to participate in KLFW which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from Aug 21-27.
“Through this KLFW series, we can find talented individuals such as young designers or fashion designers.
“We are not just looking for models, we are also looking for artisans. There are various talents that we can unearth through programmes like this,” he said at the KLFW style X model search series programme held at Urban Residences, here, yesterday (July 1).
He said, in collaboration with AirAsia and the AirAsia Academy, participants also have the opportunity to work at the airline.
“Here we have a recruiting representative from AirAsia itself, so if they are lucky, they can become flight attendants at AirAsia,” he said.
At the model search series, 60 models took part in a model casting and the session was coordinated by homegrown fashion events company Style Series.
The primary aim of the model search in Sarawak was to include models from East Malaysia in KL Fashion Week 2023.
Since 2013, KLFW has been a successful and bona fide platform for Malaysian designers, brands or houses to come together to showcase their best and latest creations.
It is a week of runway fashion shows with Malaysia’s top models on the runway and abuzz with buyers and the media propelling the best of Malaysian fashion to the region and the world.
On the panel of judges at the KLFW Model Search 2023 were Tan, Geraldine Sim (Founder of Style Series), Yacub Taha (Fashion Designer and Style Series Choreographer), Raudhah Azami (Air Asia Cabin Crew Executive) and Elyna Effendi (Executive Producer of FE2 Productions).
