KUCHING: About 600 people attended the Aidilfitri ceremony organised by Persatuan Anak Kabong (PAK) which is at every end of the Syawal month to strengthen bond among the people of Kabong.
Kabong Member of Parliament Mohd Chee Kadir said this is a unique ceremony of inviting everyone from the party and the people of Kabong to come together and celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“During the event, we mingled with the people apart from enjoying the food prepared for us. We also strengthened our friendship with the people.
“It also allowed us to build a peaceful and prosperous country,” he remarked, while giving his speech at the PAK Aidilfitri ceremony at the Dewan Kompleks Belia dan Sukan here yesterday.
Also present at the ceremony was PAK Chairman, Haji Yusuf Amir and Chee Kadir’s wife Meryani Haji Yassin.
Chee Kadir urged more people and youths of Kabong to register in the association.
“From this day onwards, the membership fee for joining PAK is waived. Before this, it was RM20 for a lifetime membership to join the association,” he said.
He welcomed the people and the youths of Kabong to register with PAK as many activities will be organised in the near future, adding that many are not aware of the existence of PAK.
Chee Kadir also announced that all incentive awards for student excellence from PAK will be funded by him after this.
“I want the children of Kabong to achieve excellence in education and they have to study very hard to the highest level in order to shape their family’s future and the community around them,” he said.
During the ceremony, Chee Kadir presented the PAK 2018 Student Excellence Award to Izzatul Aniza Kasturi (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia – STPM), Roslina Abdul Rahman (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia – SPM) and Syazwani Masmos (Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 – PT3).
The ceremony which began at 9am lasted until 1.30 pm. The crowds were entertained by the Alley Brothers. There were also lucky draws, prize giving ceremony and others.
Meanwhile, Chee Kadir also announced a grant of RM10,000 to PAK for organsing and holding the celebration.
