KUCHING: Ijot Idris, 62, was crowned the winner of the Traditional Cooking Competition organised as part of the Satok Garage Sale 4.0 at Satok here yesterday.
Ijot said he has been involved in making traditional cuisines since childhood.
“Most of the recipes are handed down from my mother,” he said.
Ijot runs a food business in Kubah Ria, Kuching that he operates every night.
“The response given by the customers are very encouraging,
“Many say that the sambal meat is unique and is not available elsewhere,” he said.
Ijot defeated eight others to win a cash prize which he kept a secret “just for the fund of it”.
